Shortly before Christmas Dirk Stroeve
came to ask the narrator to spend the holiday with him. He had a characteristic
sentimentality about the day and wanted to pass it among his friends with
suitable ceremonies. So, Dirk decided Strickland should be with them on that
beautiful holiday. Soon, the storyteller and Stroeve knew that their friend
Charles was obviously very ill.
The narrator and Dirk visited him, and
found out that his temperature was a hundred and four. He needed help. Presently
they left him and went to Dirk where he persuaded his wife to convey sick
Strickland in their home.
GOOD!
